My Background

 

Katarina Bogosavljević, PhD (she/her) is a Killam Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta and with the Inner City Health and Wellness Program. Katarina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology (Honours) from Simon Fraser University (2016) and a Masters of Arts (2018) and PhD (2025) in Criminology from the University of Ottawa. Her dissertation explored the affective lives of people living with HIV under the criminalization of HIV nondisclosure and through the HIV epidemic eras. In her role with the Inner City Health and Wellness Program, Katarina is conducting a critical policy analysis of the Alberta government’s Compassionate Intervention Act with a specific focus on the role of emotions in policy-making. Her research interests include qualitative and collaborative methods, critical policy studies, affect theory, the intersection of health, law and policy, narrative theory, and critical victimology. She is currently volunteering as a steering committee member of the Canadian Coalition to Reform HIV Criminalization.
